Toronto, February 27, 2012—The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) Investors Exchange—the leading investment show dedicated solely to the mineral industry—takes place in Toronto, March 4 - 7, 2012, and is open to the general public. The Investors Exchange features over 600 exhibitors including junior exploration companies, mid-size producers, major mining companies, stock exchanges, brokers and financial institutions with mining interests, and prospectors.

The Plug-in Advantage:
Autodesk Revit Software has some built-in support for point clouds. However, by adding the Leica CloudWorx plug-in, users benefit from additional tools and higher efficency of a more productive point cloud enabled BIM modeling solution.  Starting with much easier access to the point cloud data, a user can just open a Cyclone project directly in Revit. Users also find a critical set of tools for efficiently cropping the cloud, and controlling the display parameters along with the ability to use unlimited sized point clouds.  Leica CloudWorx for Revit provides critical new modeling tools required to efficently and accurately create a BIM model of an existing structure.

December 8th, 2011 - ADL Vantage Pro - New Firmware Available

Executive Summary

Pacific Crest has release FW version 3.04.2280 which resolves all issues that we have found in the ADL Vantage Pro radio's and SLR3 modules. This firmware version will resolve the following issues:

ADL Vantage Pro base radio's locking up and requiring manual reboot for the unit to start oporating again.
ADL SLR-3 radio's becoming unresponsive during FW loads, this resolution only effects forward moving. Please contact support if you have this issue directly.

RTCM 3.x and Leica 4G messages are properly handled, without this users will not be able to get base positions at the rover.

November 28th, 2011 -This week's feature product. Storage Media Overview Leica Geosystems storage media are perfectly matched to Leica Geosystems instruments and sensors. Compared to conventional devices on the market, that read or write single data, these instruments have a different functional principle. The TPS or GNSS instruments create a database on the memory card and switch constantly between different open files. Standard memory cards are unable to manage this required multi-tasking function. This leads to problems in data communication and is one of the main causes of data loss. Furthermore, the original storage media also function with highest reliability in extreme temperatures, handling shock and high humidity.

October 14th, 2011 - Third party support for specific Viva instruments
Starting today, GS10, GS15 and TS15 series instruments can be enabled to receive commands from third party software.  Several software vendors have designed applications to run on CS10 and CS15 controllers that can be used with enabled instruments.  The "GeoCom" codes that need to be enabled on each sensor can be purchased now with any sensor.  These codes are permanent codes, thus can not be returned or removed from demonstration equipment.

Leica Geosystems launches a Canadian commercial RTK network: Leica SmartNet – a new era for GPS users
A new era for GPS users

Leica Geosystems has deployed a commercial Network RTK correction services. Leica SmartNet is live and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as a broadcast correction service to subscribers in Eastern Canada [*and now in the Sudbury area]. Leica SmartNet is enabled by the network of Leica Geosystems Ltd which is able to deliver corrections at the centimeter level in RTK mode or sub-meter DGPS and with raw data for post-processing.

No longer will surveyors have to set up base stations in secure compounds, or stand guard over them while the rover collects the positions. Now, one receiver is all you need. Of critical importance is the continuous datum afforded by Leica SmartNet – you can work at full precision, in CSRS Grid, as soon as you turn the receiver on, or work in a new or existing local grid as before.

Open to all, whichever GPS you own

SmartNet is available to anyone with any GPS receiver that can accept RTK or DGPS corrections broadcast by GSM or GPRS and CDMA. So whether you own a Leica Geosystems (GX1230 or SR530) or another make of GPS receiver you are able to gain access to the service.

The Network

Data from each of these reference stations around the country is received over the Internet at a highly secure location in Toronto where it is processed using Leica Spider Net, Leica Geosystems advanced network calculation software, and made available to users when they log in.

How does a user gain access to Leica SmartNet?
